about

CM Ensemble was an electro-acoustic improv group led by Nick Harte (Hodgson), and featured an ever-shifting coterie of Christchurch musical experimenters. Over a dozen recordings were released in extremely limited numbers on Nick's own CM Productions label, while Metonymic issued the Love Central CD in 2000.

Last Refuge Of The Insane was recorded live to tape in two locations, Arnie Van Bussell's famous Nightshift Studios, and in the auditorium at the Christchurch Jazz School. The original album was compiled by Peter Wright for release on his Apoplexy label in 1999.
